Mechanical Training Institute
One
of the oldest ground training institutes of the Indian Air Force, the Mechanical
Training Institute provides training to freshly inducted airmen in the Mechanical
Trades. It also provides training for in-service officers and airmen.
The Institute imparts training for the following Non-Technical Trades:
- Airframe Trades
Airmen assigned to the Airframe trades are trained to undertake maintenance and servicing of Airframes and their accessories.
- Engine Trades
The Mechanical Training Institute also trains airmen assigned to the Engine trades. The training prepares them for undertaking repair and servicing of piston and gas turbine engines and looking after of fuelling aircraft.
- Weapon Trades
The institute trains airmen to assume all duties pertaining to the Weapon Trades like the installation, repair and servicing of all armament.
The Mechanical Training Institute also conducts training programs for in-service
personnel of the Indian Air Force. They are:
- Qualified Technical Instructors' Courses of eight weeks duration.
- Methods of Instruction Course for a period of one week for Officers.
- Methods of Instruction Course for officers for the RHSCP for four days.
- Capsule Course on Methods Of Instruction for officers of the Non-Technical Branch for a period of four weeks.
