Electronics Training Institute
The
Electronics Training Institute, located at Bangalore, is committed to the training
of freshly recruited airmen for the Indian Air Force. It has also begun Joint
Service Training, which is common to all individuals training to be airmen.
The following are the courses imparted to the following trades:
- Radar Fitter
The Institute prepares freshly inducted trainees for the job of a Radar Fitter. They are trained to undertake installation, maintenance and servicing of air borne and ground radar equipment. The course lasts for a period of 80 weeks.
- Air Defence System Operator
Freshly inducted trainees are instructed to take on the responsibilities of an Air Defence System Operator. They are made proficient in surface-to-air guided weapon and air defence artillery. The training period lasts for a period of fifty eight weeks.
- Missile Fitter (Electronics)
The Institute provides ab-initio, basic and intermediate training for a period of 68 weeks. Trainees are prepared to carry out operation and maintenance of tools, spare parts and accessories of Missiles, Launchers and Transport Loader machines.
- Joint Basic Training
The institute has, from the year 2000, begun imparting Joint Basic Training comprising General Service Knowledge, General Service Training and academic subjects like English and Hindi. The curriculum emphasises the importance of physical fitness and service discipline. On completion of training, the trainees are routed to other training establishments for training on specific Trades.
