Communications Training Institute
The
Communications Training Institute located at Bangalore imparts training to ab-initio
trainees of both the Technical and the Non-Technical Trades. The institute also
conducts training programs for all three Defence Services on Quality Assurance.
These programs are directed at both Officers as well as Airmen.
The following courses are conducted for ab-initio trainees:
- Radio Fitter
Trainees allocated to perform the task of Radio Fitter are trained to undertake maintenance of and operation of recording equipment as well as handle the W / T and R / T receiving equipment. The course lasts for a period of 80 weeks.
- Telephonist / Radio / Telephone Operators
The objective of this course is to train individuals inducted into the Telephonist / Radio / Telephone Operator trade. They are trained to maintain the telephone services as well as other communication equipment. During the 66 weeks of training, they are also instructed to maintain the VHF sets and direction finding equipment.
- Musician
Ab-initio trainees, who are inducted as musicians, are trained for a period of 66 weeks at the Institute. They are trained to play different musical instruments that are part of the Air Force band.
The institute provides the following courses for in-service officers on Quality Assurance Services. Both courses are held for a period of 8 weeks.

- Quality Assurance Services (Airmen)
