Courses Offered By Air Force Administrative College

ImageThe Air Force Administrative College is one of the oldest and most prestigious training institutions of the Indian Air Force. It provides training for almost all the administrative branches of the Air Force as well as the Army, Navy and officers from friendly foreign countries.

The courses offered in the college can be divided into two categories:

  • In-Service Training Courses for Officers
  • Ab-Initio Training Courses

In-Service Training Courses for Officers
The Air Force Administrative College offers training programs for in-service officers. Guest lectures, tutorial discussions and presentations and database management programs are an integral part of the curriculum. Physical Training is another important aspect of the programs offered to the in-service officers.

The following in-service courses are conducted at AFAC:

  • Junior Commanders Course
    This course is for officers of all branches of the Indian Air Force. This course covers the tenets of human and resource management for officers to take on their responsibilities as Staff Officers.

  • Advanced Logistics Officers Course
    This course is for senior officers of the Logistics Branch to prepare them to take on staff appointments. The course covers details of best practices for material management and resource utilisation.

  • Advanced Accounts Officers Course
    This course is conducted for officers of the Accounts Branch to prepare them to take on staff appointments. The course content includes budgeting and financial management, and also covers principles of financial discipline and planning for growth.

  • Junior/ Initial / Senior Forecasters Course
    These three courses are for officers of the Meteorology branch. They cover a complex array of weather phenomenon and their effects on flying.

  • Satellite Meteorology Course
    In-service officers of the Meteorology Branch take this course to be able to undertake effective utilisation of satellite imaging to be able to forecast weather phenomenon.

  • Chief Administrative Officers Course
    This course is conducted at AFAC for senior officers in the Administrative Branch as a pre-cursor to being appointed as Chief Administrative Officer in IAF bases around the country. The course is aimed at broadly orientating officers to the higher directorial levels of the IAF.

Ab-Initio Training Courses
The College also conducts ab-initio training courses for airmen in the Non-Technical Trades, recommended for the post of officer. From Air Force Law to management studies, the officer trainees undergo intensive training to allow them to undertake their responsibilities as Commissioned Officers.
