to free ration, from medical facilities to schools for your
children, Air Force takes care of all your needs. These benefits
are not only given to personnel in service but also to the
retired individuals.
Benefits for Serving Personnel
Post-retirement Benefits
- Insurance
All retired personnel of the Indian Air Force are covered
under the life insurance scheme of the Life Insurance Group
Society up till the age of 70 years.
- Medical

All the retired officers and their dependents have access
to medical rooms and hospitals equipped with the best of
the facilities like Haemodialysis, Chemotherapy, Cobalt
60 Radiotherapy for cancer, CT scan, Renal transplants,
Lithotripsy, etc. Apart from being entitled to the medical
facilities, retired Air Force personnel is also authorized
for the following benefits:
- Coverage under medical insurance for lifetime.
- Monthly Maintenance Grant for leprosy patients undergoing
institutional treatment at various hospitals, for boarded
out personnel pending award of disability pension and
for permanently disabled personnel.
- Grant for Commercial Venture for personnel who have
had to leave service due to medical reasons.
- Airmen can get grants for purchase of medical aids
such as hearing aids and artificial limbs.
- Reimbursement of medical bills.
- Grants to the wives of personnel who have had to
leave the service due to medical reasons.
- Scholarships
Retired Air Force personnel can avail the following
scholarships:
- Scholarship Grant for School or Higher Education
of handicapped children.
- Education grant for the children of airmen.
- Senior Citizens' Home
In
order to provide 'Home' to the aged retired personnel and
their wives, a Senior Citizens' Home has been built at Tughlakabad,
New Delhi. The home has 37 rooms for officers and airmen.
It is designed and built to take care of all the needs of
the ageing people and provide them maximum comfort.
- Placement Cell
After leading a very active life in Air Force, many of the
Air Force personnel wish to involve themselves in some work
post-retirement. Keeping this need in mind the Air Force
Association has established a Placement Cell for retired
personnel for employment in civil sectors. The Air Force
Association is a body of retired Air Force personnel (officers
and airmen) which works towards solving problems its members
may face while settling down post-retirement and after.
Membership is voluntary.
